The Opportunity

Poke are an award winning website design agency based in London and NY. They chose their name because poking is the simplest form of human interaction, a way to surprise, to provoke a response.   

To design POKE’S loos in London, we first had to understand the basic rule of going to the bog. The toilet is an escape from the office, a space to clear your head; this insight helped form the foundation of our concept. 

Our Solution

‘A loo with a view’ – a mini-break where you experience something different every time. A place to inspire your mind where you emerge feeling as refreshed as you would if you’d just taken a walk around the block. 

Each cubical we designed has its own unique view and each engages with its occupant in a different way. The ‘Dressing room’ offers a fold out wall so you can get out of your bike gear and into the shower, no hassle.

The ‘Auditorium’ is a darker space where you can immerse yourself in music controlled from the in-house iPod, getting people into an eclectic range of music they’d never have in their own collection.  The ‘Workout room’ asks you provocative questions and gives unexpected facts from its digital ticker tape fed by RSS.

In the ‘Book club’ you might find yourself reading the same novel for 2 years (2 minutes at a time). The ‘Curiosity gallery’ gets Pokers sharing their weird and wonderful passions.  ‘The Conservatory’ is about bringing the outside inside. The view of the Shoreditch world beyond the office has been framed with greenery and each Poker has been given a plant to take care of.
