Giving the airport a heart, soul and bit of fun

The Opportunity

One grim café serving an entire local destination airport. The customer audiences included BA trainee pilots, glider and small plane enthusiasts, helicopter flight students, aviation engineers, Red Letter Day revellers and families coming just to watch the action. The airport needed a heart.

Our Solution

We started from scratch. We created a name, identity and interior concept spanning menus, matches and membership cards, furniture, fittings and photography. Using lighting and other design features we created a flexible space that can change from a day to night venue. Enhancing 1950s architectural detail by sourcing re-upholstered 50s Danish furniture whilst weaving in cues from the airport itself, breathed life back into a building that won architectural awards back in the day.

Where we've made a difference

The venue has been trading to capacity day and night since opening its doors and has achieved its target in appealing to existing and new audiences. Our client is on the hunt for bars and 'club' style venues on high streets and other airports…
