Tom Dixon launches his first London shop selling "spectacular everyday things". Alongside his complete collection is Etch, a digitally maufactured pendant light and candle holder produced on the shop's live assembly line, and a  new collection of boiled leather vases by London designer Simon Hasan, purchasable from a customised vending machine. - Wharf Building, W10 5BU

Barber Osgerby invite us behind the scenes of their London studio to take a peek at their design and creative development processes. - 35-42 Charlotte Street, 23-26 Sept.

Established & Sons are taking over an old man's boozer, The Wenlock Arms for the duration of The Design Festival - 26 Wenlock Road, N1 7TA

Anti Design Festival Redchurch Street will hold exhibitions, screenings, talks and happenings. As a response to 25 years of cultural deep freeze in the UK, The Festival will attempt to unlock creative fires and ideas in defiance of generic culture and art as entertainment.

The V&A is holding over 30 events for the festival including installations, talks and exhibitions. Of particular note is Stuart Haygarth's installation of cut-offs from a framing company, creating a striking installation on the museum's marble staircase - walk through it on the way to the architecture galleries.

Outrace - A spectacular installation in Trafalgar Square using 6 robotic arms from Audi's production line. Visitors can book a slot to play with the 'mechanical octopus' and write messages or draw pictures by manipulating the tentacles equipped with LEDs.

Tramshed - New design venue The Tramshed launches during the festival. Set in a disused power station the space houses 25 international design brands (Another Country, Kvadrat, BMW, Benchmark) with a string of talks and debates throughout the week providing brainfood.
