Harrods

Luxury experience designed for the discerning collector

Harrods wanted a unique home for the ‘Great Writing Room’ that epitomised the finest in quality and taste. We designed a destination to showcase the exclusive giftware brands and luxury items to appeal to the mindset of the discerning collector.

The finest in quality and taste

Jewellery box inspired writing desks, trimmed with brass and timber are created to enhance intimate service. Items are stocked in hidden drawers, focusing the experience on craftmanship and handling of the product, rather than payment and product retrieval. We worked with the department’s existing architectural features to elevate brand touch points and mark out the space; each listed column is designed with a brass nib inlay to evoke the beauty of a pen barrel.

Experience focused on craftsmanship and product handling

The inky blue carpet links to branded designed areas for Alfred Dunhill, Smythson and Mont Blanc, with each brand signifier held within an illuminated onyx block for the ultimate brand reassurance.

Returning to ‘the craft and beauty of reading and writing’, each product is meticulously presented with jewellery-like grace and poise, echoing past rituals and the offer of new ones.
