Creating John Lewis’s first optician service experience

Household was asked to create a dedicated in-store John Lewis Opticians to offer customers the leading mix of fashion brands, quality eye care and the Partnership’s trusted service.

Our ‘service all around you’ strategy and concept invites customers and Partners to move effortlessly between assessing personal style and selecting brands, to facilitating top class eye care and easy mobile payment.

Uninterrupted, seamless service

We designed ‘dressing tables’ that bring informality to the experience, with frames held on nearby timber display dressers for uninterrupted, seamless service. Soft materials and John Lewis’ warm green and copper palette exude reassurance and trust in this specialist category.

Customers have the pick of fashion eyewear brands – from Prada to Ray-Ban – and receive personalised style advice including face measuring and frame suggestions on digital screens. Hi-tech 3D scanners are used for eye tests and storing digital images of customers’ eyes for continuity on their next visit.

John Lewis Opticians has been designed with servicing the customer firmly in mind, whether they are an ‘eye carer’ or trendy spec’ wearer.
