Nurturing a sense of belonging

At Household, we’re all about putting people at the heart of everything we do. We celebrate our differences and similarities, and even as our agency has grown, our culture hasn’t changed. We value the importance of investing time in our people, beyond the walls of our Shoreditch office. Not only to help create an inclusive workplace but for us to all understand and get to know each other, taking quality time to listen, away from the day-to-day responsibilities of office life. And so last week saw us spend two days together at Birch Community, Hertfordshire, where we celebrated our 18th birthday, talented team, and achievements.

We kicked off our event with some working sessions, starting with our CEO, who shared some of the best moments from the early days of Household. We were inspired by and reminded of our vision, mission, and approach — building excitement around what’s next for Household. Our ‘Question Time’ session allowed Householders to quiz the Board, beyond the normal day-to-day. Our purpose as a company is to create the world’s most relatable brands, so we used a working session to break into small groups and define what relatability means to Household and why it matters to brands.

It wouldn’t be a Household event without some entertainment, and we did just that. After a delicious al fresco lunch, we entered the Household Treasure Hunt, which saw us whizzing around the grounds of The Birch in search of clues. We dressed up our founders — and some lucky team members — as Zebras, before witnessing all sorts of dance moves and shapes, in aid of the main prize. We ended the day with a celebratory dinner, an opportunity for us to share more time together and thank everyone who have helped make Household what it is today.
