COVID-19 gives rise to live video shopping globally

The pandemic has been a catalyst for innovation with retailers exploring new ways to help customers make more confident online purchases. Live-stream shopping is popular in China but we’re now seeing brands in Western markets experiment with online video shopping platforms. This enables shoppers to discover new products, access trusted product recommendations and connect with brand ambassadors live and on-demand.

DTC brand Moda Operandi will launch its new shopping feature Moda Live via a live-stream hosted by designer Johanna Ortiz. Viewers will be able to see the brand’s latest fashion collection, engage with content and shop while they watch.

Google has unveiled its ‘Shoploop’ app where users have access to a range of videos allowing them to explore the latest beauty trends, listen to expert advice and have the option to purchase products now or save for later.
